FLORAL DESIGNER – Part Time/Contract

Are you creative & passionate about floral artistry? Do you bloom where you are planted? Our award winning and internationally recognized team of planners, designers, and directors want to meet you and are currently accepting resumes for part time/contract floral designers!

The floral designer will assist the Cedarwood Weddings design team in pre-planning, set up, and day of floral design of all scheduled weddings and/or styled editorial shoots. The floral designer will be responsible for using imagination and creativity to create quality floral arrangements and a finished product that meets and exceeds the company’s design asethic, standards, and client’s expectations, within timelines and budget in a cohesive team environment. The floral designer will report to the Creative Director and is expected to be available Thursday through Sunday although this will fluctuate weekly depending on scheduled events. The position includes limited interaction with potential and current couples, families, and guests, on-site design experience, understanding and checking event layouts/plans, coordinating with on-site local partners and vendors, thriving in a fast-paced environment, and providing an exceptionally high quality product and experience for all couples, families, guests, and vendor partners.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Arranging of florals for events, which requires floral design skill and knowledge, knowledge of the proper mechanics to execute complex floral designs and the ability, creativity and experience to translate descriptive event plans in order to execute high quality floral designs in a timely manner

Processing newly-arrived florals, which requires knowledge of what, if any, florals are for specific events and or orders and knowledge of processing, floral care and handling

Designing and preparing flower arrangements as assigned by Master Florist

Constructing personal flowers such as hand held bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres and flower crowns

Follow event design specifications to create cohesive floral decor

Cultivate a creative and collaborative environment to inspire design and build cohesive teams within the department

Using knowledge of life line and freshness of plants and flowers to control costs

Gather, count, and divide product according to floral recipes

Assist with wedding decor setup and breakdown

Sort, organize, clean and restock floral containers, props and supplies

Ability to work under pressure and deadlines,  be flexible and a versitle team member, slipping into any role, title, or job position that needs to be temporarily filled

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Two-year degree or work experience in Floral or Event Design or related field

Passion for wedding industry, celebrations and events

At least one year of event or hospitality industry experience

Knowledge of fresh floral product and design technique, floral processing, design and mechanics

Knowledge of floral classifications, color combinations and floral care and handling

Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume production, time sensitive environment

Professional appearance and demeanor, be willing to adhere to company dress code

Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays

Physical Requirements:

Standing, walking, bending, pushing/pulling, twisting, crouching and kneeling for up to 10 hours a day

Lifting up to 25 to 35 lbs.

Working with a variety of sharp hand tools and plants with thorns.

Ability to work in any outdoor weather conditions

WEDDING DIRECTOR ASSISTANT – Seasonal Contract Position

Are you detail oriented and proactive? Our award winning and internationally recognized team of planners, designers, and directors wants to meet you and are currently accepting resumes for seasonal Wedding Director Assistants!

The Wedding Director Assistant will assist the Cedarwood team in day of event management and client interactions. The Wedding Director Assistant is expected to be available Friday through Sunday although this will fluctuate weekly depending on scheduled events. The Wedding Director Assistant position includes interacting with potential and current couples, their families, and guests, understanding and checking event layouts/plans, coordinating with on-site local vendors, and providing an exceptional experience and service for all couples, families, guests, and vendor partners.

Overview of Responsibilities but not limited to:

Works with a sense of urgency

Always anticipating, available, and approachable with a smile

Flexible to last minutes changes, late arrivals, children, rips, falls, tears, etc.

Assists in final touches and set up as needed

Greets, Coordinates, and Interacts with couples, bridal parties, and families

Provides exceptional client experiences and goes the extra mile, often preemptively anticipating needs

Coordinates guests, provides directions, ensures seamless event flow

Pins boutonnieres and corsages

Acts as liaison with program/guest book/gift attendants upon arrival regarding duties

Gathers all family and wedding party attendants and places them in line for formal processional of ceremony

Gathers bride/groom/wedding party/family regarding announcement/s into reception, places them in line for announcements, and ensures that announcements go smoothly

Gathers bags, food, etc. that will leave with the couple and ensures that they are placed in departure vehicle

Coordinates, supervises, and assists with collection of all gifts, bridal memorabilia and/or supplies (guest book and pen, cake knife or service, disposable cameras, baskets, bridal bouquet, centerpieces, extra programs, extra favors and memorabilia, etc.) and ensures that all items are loaded into “designated” vehicles

Comfortable in outdoor elements (rain, heat, cold) follow Cedarwood’s procedures to ensure clients and guests comforts

Assists in event break down and clean up

Responsible for turning all lights off, blowing out candles, and locking doors

Adhere to all of Cedarwood’s policies and expectations

Dress Attire:

Neat all black clothing and black athletic/comfort footwear

Must be professionally groomed and presentable at all times

Required:

Must be available weekends & holidays

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time

Must be able to lift and move at least 50 pounds

Must be able to climb ladders, crouch, kneel, and bend

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Two-year degree or equivalent work experience in hospitality industry 

Knowledge of event management or coordination

WEDDING DESIGNER INTERNSHIP – College Credit

Are you interested in working in the event industry – specifically high-end styled weddings? The internationally published Cedarwood Weddings team is currently interviewing and accepting applications for the 2018 Spring/Summer and Fall season.

The wedding designer intern will assist the Cedarwood Weddings design team in pre-planning, set up, and day of styling of all scheduled weddings and/or styled editorial shoots. The wedding designer intern will be responsible for developing new concepts, designs, and assisting in set up and break down of scheduled weddings. The wedding designer intern will report to the Creative Director and is expected to be available Thursday through Sunday although this will fluctuate weekly depending on scheduled events. The internship initiative includes interacting with potential and current couples, families, and guests, on-site design experience, understanding and checking event layouts/plans, coordinating with on-site local partners and vendors, and providing an exceptional experience for all couples, families, guests, and vendor partners.

Overview of Responsibilities but not limited to:

Assists with styling, design, and set up of all scheduled weddings

Learns and helps develop concepts and designs for tablescapes & accent tables

Communicates clearly and effectively with design team on additional floral or décor needs

Responsible for pulling and integrating cohesive props & decor

Manages a clean and neat property with an eye for details and eagerness to present company assets in most positive way

Responsible for ensuring adequate candlelight is on every reception and accent table

Responsible for set up and styling coffee & water stations

Assists in pre-planning for day of styling

Assists in post-clean up and organization of props and décor

Assists with Pinterest categorization, cross pinning, and inspiration at least 3 days a week from Cedarwood or remote

Assists in wedding planning sessions with couples when possible

Works with a sense of urgency and completes work in time sensitive deadlines

Takes initiative and is always anticipating and available with a positive attitude

Moves onto needed tasks with little direction

Internship Guidelines:

4 hours per week of in-office tasks, 1-2 on-site events per week (8 hours per event), 3-5 hours of off-site Pinterest support per week, hours log, exit interview.

Possibility for concurrent internships from March 2018-June 2018 and September 2018-November 2018 available.

Dress Attire:

Neat all black clothing and black athletic/comfort footwear

Must be professionally groomed and presentable at all times

Upon Successful Completion of Internship:

All internship guidelines must be met through the duration of the season. Upon completion, interns will receive (a) Certificate of Completion, (b) a letter of recommendation from Cedarwood Weddings, and (c) completed log for your Collegiate Course Advisor (for accredited internship college credit).

Required:

Must be attending college or university and able to receive college credit

Must be passionate about the wedding industry, celebrations and events

Must be able to dedicate 20 hours a week on site including weekends

Must be available weekends & holidays

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time

Must be able to lift and move at least 50 pounds

Must be able to climb ladders, crouch, kneel, and bend

EVENT MANAGEMENT INTERNSHIP – College Credit

Are you interested in working in the event industry – specifically high-end weddings? The internationally published Cedarwood Weddings team is currently interviewing and accepting applications for the 2016 Spring and Summer season.

The event management intern will assist the Cedarwood Weddings Wedding Director and team in day of event management and client interactions. The event management intern will report to the Wedding Director and is expected to be available Friday through Sunday although this will fluctuate weekly depending on scheduled events. The internship initiative includes interacting with potential and current couples, their families, and guests, understanding and checking event layouts/plans, coordinating with on-site local vendors, and providing an exceptional experience and service for all couples, families, guests, and vendor partners.

Overview of Responsibilities but not limited to:

Manages lighting and sound ambiance

Responsible for double-checking plan for missed details or add-ons

Greets, Coordinates, and Interacts with couples, bridal parties, and families

Assists Wedding Director and coordinator in providing exceptional client experiences and goes the extra mile, often preemptively anticipating needs

Coordinates guests, provides directions, and assists in seamless event flow

Always anticipating, available, and approachable with a smile

Flexible to last minutes changes, late arrivals, children, rips, falls, tears, etc.

Responsible for drink stations and candle lighting

Assists in event break down and clean up

Assists in final touches and set up as needed

Works with a sense of urgency and adheres to timelines

Internship Guidelines:

1-2 on-site events per week (8-10 hours per event) support per week, hours log, exit interview.

Possibility for concurrent internships from March 2018-June 2018 and September 2018-November 2018 available.
