Marissa and Mark‘s Oct. 11 Cedarwood celebration is filled with so much wedding goodness (and great photography by Jenna Henderson) that we had to divide it into two posts. If you missed Part 1, click here! This couple is dear to our hearts, because Marissa is part of the heart of Cedarwood. As our wedding director, she and our team help make day-of dreams come true.
How did Mark and Marissa earn their wedding wings? Here’s their story. “Mark and I met through my brother Berch, and the three of us became roommates for a 2-1/2 year period we call our carefree, fun years. We worked and played and took road trips with Mark’s band. When Mark decided it was time to earn merit for our future, we moved to Orlando and I worked while he went to school. We faced some challenging times, especially finding a job for Mark in music. Mark finally landed an unpaid internship and a small gig in Nashville and I immediately supported his decision to go without me. Friends opened their home to him (he gives them all the credit for our wonderful life in Nashville) and I began looking for opportunities to follow. Soon I landed my dream career as wedding director at Cedarwood! We had just 4 weeks to pack, move, break a lease, find a new apartment and start work! In Nashville we have really found our love. Our love for each other, love for adventure, love for our families and love for the future.”
Isn’t this ring photo the bomb? Here’s Mark and Marissa’s proposal story, done with true performance flair! “I joked with Mark that he better not propose on a cliché day like Valentine’s Day or something cheesy. Well, I was in for a huge surprise. During our family Louisiana Christmas visit, Mark waited until everyone had opened presents, and then brought out one last gift for me. It was a DVD playing a photo montage with a John Legend song in the background. The last lyric of the song is “will you stay with me” – Mark added his own lyric – “As my wife?”
Congratulations Marissa and Mark. We are privilegded to haved help create this special day for you, and wish you years of happiness in Nashville.
