We love young love and a great love story, like Lauren and Rhett’s sweet relationship leading up to their naturally pure May 11 Cedarwood wedding. Lauren shares, “When Rhett and I met through acquaintances, we originally decided to remain friends. Rhett is very thoughtful and such a creative person, and he planned each “hang out” with new and exciting activities. I’m a sucker for romance, and Rhett not only became my best friend, he soon won my heart with his sensitivity and sense of adventure. We definitely had a magnetic romance as Rhett continued to plan spectacular dates for three years before asking me to marry him! He proposed by taking me camping in the most spectacular natural area. We hiked to a cliff overlooking a beautiful vista with a waterfall. We sat down and talked for a while, and then I saw him pull out a ring. Mesmerized by the beauty around us, I was taken off-guard and asked, “what’s that?” Ha! Not the initial reaction I’m sure Rhett hoped for, but it ended up being the perfect proposal.”
Just like a grown up version of the romantic setting from Moonrise Kingdom, Lauren and Rhett’s love of adventure aptly inspired their wedding design. When planning with Cedarwood’s event team, Lauren and Rhett told us they wanted the celebration not only to ‘look’ natural, but to ‘feel’ natural, with a casual and lighthearted vibe. Lauren says, “Both Rhett and I love the outdoors and have an appreciation for all things wild – we incorporated lots of delicate lighting, green foliage and wildflowers into the decor, which we wanted to be interesting, eclectic and somewhat whimsical. I wanted my bridal gown to be romantic but simple, and I wore almost no jewelry so I would feel natural and like me.” Lauren and Rhett wrote their own vows and chose unique songs that had significance to their relationship. Their favorite wedding day memory is a scheduled quiet time together before the ceremony, reading their vows, and soaking up the feeling that “this is it!” Lauren shares, “Taking this time, to really hear from the heart what we wrote to each other, made the ceremony and celebration so much more meaningful.”
