Alexis and Adam’s Cedarwood Wedding is proof that rain can’t stop the glow of a couple in love, or the gorgeousness of an intimate gathering to witness a marriage. When planning Alexis and Adams’ destination wedding, we couldn’t have known it would fall on a particularly rainy day, but we would have ‘ordered’ the exact weather if we could have. Softly falling rain actually enhanced the moody elegant styling featuring lots of flowing fabrics, soft candlelight and decor color palette of white, silver, charcoal, smoke and slate. Adam and Alexis both grew up in the south for the majority of their lives and met six years ago through mutual friends. Despite being in different states, they kept in touch as friends. That quickly changed when Adam moved to Florida where Alexis was living. Everything finally clicked into place.
Alexis shares, “We finally went on a date after all that time and everything about it was perfect. The timing was right and the chemistry between us was (and still is) unbelievable. The attraction was undeniable and only intensified. We knew that ‘we’ were meant to be.” They were engaged a year later and moved to Baltimore, Maryland for Adam’s job promotion with Under Armor, but began searching for a southern wedding venue that would represent their roots and family values. Alexis continues, “Our venue search became frustrating looking at many places that just weren’t up to par. One night Historic Cedarwood came up on our computer screen, and we knew right away that THIS was our venue. It was love at first sight. Our immediate love for Cedarwood was like our love for each other – we just knew. We stopped looking then and there and began planning the wedding of our dreams.” We are certainly glad Alexis and Adam found us and we feel grateful to witness such a powerful love. Their intimate ceremony and elegantly classic celebration in the Cedarwood Barn (yes, barn+classic+elegant do apply!) was captured by Ace Photography. Enjoy these gorgeous images!
We enjoy Q/A sessions with Cedarwood brides, and Alexis was gracious to share the following insights from her wedding:
Q: What made your wedding day special? A: “Our wedding day at Cedarwood in Nashville, TN was a day we will never forget. Our intimate ceremony and celebration with our closest family and friends was everything we had dreamed of and more. The Cedarwood team’s attention to detail is immaculate, bar none. Our wedding day was flawless and so “us”. The décor was classically elegant yet simple and chic. Chandeliers, candlelight and gorgeous white flowers surrounded us during our ceremony and reception in the rustic red barn on the property. Our main entrée was southern traditional barbecue, mac and cheese, green beans and cornbread. Our bar was stocked with Jack Daniels Whiskey and Ole Smoky Apple Pie Moonshine to compliment our Tennessee venue, as well as Veuve Clicquot for our toast. Desserts consisted of carrot cake cupcakes, a gorgeous red velvet wedding cake, and scrumptious maple, bourbon-bacon doughnuts! Despite the fact that it rained all day, our wedding was simply perfect. Cedarwood’s charming atmosphere and amazing staff have given us memories that will last a lifetime.”
Q: What prompted the decision to have the wedding here? A: “We were set on having a southern, romantic outdoor wedding. We immediately fell in love with the beauty of Cedarwood. Cedarwood encompassed everything we were looking for in a wedding venue; intimate, rustic, and full of southern charm. It is so much more than a venue, it is truly a state of mind.”
Q: What was your favorite moment? A: “Our favorite moment was seeing each other for the first time during the ceremony. It was such a powerful and emotional moment for both of us.”
Q: Adjectives that describe your day? A: “Timeless, Intimate, Elegant, Stunning”
