Orchard Summer Farm Wedding :: Erin+Rob

Photos by Love is a Big Deal

It doesn’t get more freshly gorgeous than sweet summer ripened fruit, romantic garden flowers and the delightful July Cedarwood destination wedding of Erin and Rob. Rob is a farmer in Ohio, and we were excited at  Erin’s wedding vision: a romantic-vintage, rustic-chic celebration with farm fresh touches. Perfect for our historic farm! Using shades of light peach, pink, and ivory flowers and fruit formed the foundation of Erin and Rob’s event styling, which, when combined with lots of textures and materials like old wooden crates, burlap, milk glass, lace and tins, created a personal, handcrafted and cozy feel. Erin said they wanted guests to feel right at home, like they were throwing a big summer garden party in their backyard. Fruit jams homemade by Erin and her family were a fitting favor at the end of the evening.

Our favorite part of weddings is the love story behind them, and Erin and Rob have a remarkable relationship. When talking about their wedding, Erin said she wanted theirs to “gush love and happiness, so it is felt all around – in the air, the decor and most of all, in everyone’s faces.”  Rob and Erin don’t have a traditional love story, but their journey to each other is tried and true. Spanning early adult friendship, separate life paths and ultimately reuniting to find each other, Erin says “Rob walked into my life and changed my outlook on love forever.  I had my share of heartbreak and never believed in fate, but now I can spend the rest of my life knowing the happiness of being with the person I was meant for.”  Thanks to Love is a Big Deal for sharing these images with us!

Linda & the Cedarwood Event Team

Q/A with the bride:

What prompted the decision to have the wedding at this particular venue? Your style? What inspired you? Rob & I found Cedarwood as we were doing a search for beautiful plantations for our wedding. As soon as we found Cedarwood we just knew that we had found the place. We knew before we even made a trip down from Ohio to Nashville to check it out. We had no doubts in our minds. When we finally arrived at Cedarwood for our first meeting with the wonderful Kortni we were smitten with the place & the people. The grounds & the beautiful house & barn just evoke a feeling of home. We never wanted to leave.

What were favorite moments? Our favorite moments from our day are endless. First off, arriving at Cedarwood & seeing how perfect & beautiful it was for the first time literally took my breath away. It was exactly what we dreamed it would be. One of the most special moments was when I got to see Rob for the first time during our first look & see the smile on his face. I couldn’t stop smiling. Everything about our ceremony was perfect. Our minister, “Red”, was the perfect fit for us. Our ceremony was very heartfelt, cheery, & full of laughs. After our regular vows we each exchanged special vows that we had written to each other. We are so grateful that we got to share these moments with our family & closest friends. I can’t even describe how perfect every single little detail was, because there wasn’t a moment that wasn’t just absolutely perfect.

Three adjectives that describe the day: Homespun, Southern charm, Farm fresh & Rustic chic

Did you have DIY details? My bridesmaids & I planned a special ladies day in to decorate old mason jars wrapped with burlap, lace, & skeleton keys. It was our special touch from back home. Since Rob & I both grew up on farms & Rob runs a farming business now, we used soil from one of his fields & one of my Dad’s field for our sand ceremony. We decorated the jars together with the same burlap, lace, & skeleton keys & on the day of our wedding with combined the soil from both of our fields.
