Sometimes, it takes two times to get something right. There’s no doubt Julie and Jim have found the right love with each other, and we were honored to help create a special celebration for their day, photographed to perfection by Firm Anchor. Enjoy their love story, as told by Julie:
“Jim and I had known each other for years. Married to other people, we were friends and had even been coworkers. After enduring difficult divorces, we both thought we were done with love. But in April, 2012 Jim invited me and my two sons over to play with his two sons. Jim said he suddenly felt an overwhelming urge to give me a kiss. I remember him approaching, his face close and hearing my heart pounding loudly in my ears. Jim said “I’ve found you.” I replied “I’ve been waiting.” Jim later said he was pretty sure it was his heart pounding so loudly but I’m sure it was both! Our first kiss was passionate and powerful and knocked us off our feet, kick-starting a relationship that taught us (for the first time) what true love, passion and commitment feels like.
Julie continues, “I love wildflowers, ride horses and wear cowboy boots most of the time. I even wear them with dresses. Jim loves camping and is from Texas. He owns 8 pairs of boots. We are 40 and 41 years old and wanted our wedding to be an organic-feeling, intimate family affair. Together we have four boys, ages 10, 8, 7 and 6. I’ve never been a girly-girl, and for my first wedding, my mom and vendors made all the decisions because I assumed wedding details weren’t my thing. Jim didn’t participant in planning his first wedding either. But after falling in love with Jim, I found myself dreaming about what the perfect wedding to Jim would look and feel like. Jim also cared deeply about our wedding plans. We both love beauty that is beautiful because it’s simple and elegant. We wanted our celebration to be vintage, simple yet beautiful, innocent and real. Cedarwood’s historic, natural grounds was the perfect setting. We also felt their talented design team could interpret our vision and pull it all together for us since we are both busy professionals with four vibrant boys.
“We chose to get married in Cedarwood’s barn surrounded by our loved ones, and Jim and I wrote our own wedding vows to ensure that the boys could also make their own commitment to our ‘new’ family. The six of us had spent a lot of time sharing meals, playing games and hanging out together and the boys were real excited about becoming ‘brothers.’ In addition to our exchange of wedding rings, Jim and I presented them with necklaces engraved with “Band of Brothers.” Our celebration featured the things we love most – southwestern food, drink and desserts – especially a S’mores bar for the boys – and roaming room for fun and games.”
Thank you Jim and Julie for allowing Cedarwood to be part of your amazing wedding. A huge shout out to Firm Anchor for the photos. We hope you will be back on a regular basis to capture Cedarwood couples’ special moments. Hats off to the Cedarwood Design Team for this beauty and the other talented wedding professionals below!
