Blush, White and Blue Military Wedding :: Sarah+Ryan

Photos by John Gentry Photography

Sarah and Ryan met in May 2010 one day after Ryan graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Pointat a wedding!  Sarah was attending school in Utah and Ryan was training at Ft. Knox, but the two kept in touch long distance.  In early 2011 Ryan was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska, proposed to Sarah, and  soon afterward deployed to Afghanistan. His 12 month tour of duty was cut short when Ryan was medically evacuated for gunshot and shrapnel wounds – an injury that could have ended his career.  Learning it would take up to 10 months to recover, Sarah moved to Alaska to help Ryan.  Impressively, the injuries were only a hiccup in Ryan’s plans and he returned to Afghanistan four months later to finish his tour (Sarah must have some powerful love!)  The Cedarwood team is fond of Sarah, her strength, and the fact that she planned her whole wedding long distance via email, phone (and Pinterest!)

Sarah and Ryan’s June 15 wedding was a celebration of many things, most important the unbreakable bond of love between this amazing couple and their story of bravery and recovery. Sarah wanted their wedding to be intimate, fun and have a ‘welcome home’ sort of feeling.  Cedarwood’grounds, historic home and front lawn games were a perfect setting and a wonderland for kids.  Sarah loves to decorate and entertain, and she came up with some beautiful DIY items for the wedding –  check out her adorable hand made welcome cards – and she wanted soft romantic styling to balance the  military tributes of the day.  She nailed it!   Absolute Perfection. And so did John Gentry Photography, on shooting their first Cedarwood wedding!  We are impressed with these amazing images, both portraits and details – and a captivating documentary style (check out Sarah and Ryan’s first look on the dock of Mooncake Lake.)  Enjoy this lovely celebration, including an empty place setting to remember those in service and Ryan’s touching Toast to Fallen Comrades.

Gorgeous! It doesn’t get much more lovely than Sarah and Ryan and their amazing wedding day celebration.  Thanks for sharing your love story and choosing Cedarwood for your wedding.  We are honored.  A special thanks and shout out to John Gentry Photography, for fantastic images – it was hard to limited our feature post to these favorites.
