One of the wonders of love is that it finds itself over oceans, continents and cultures. We are always delighted when Cedarwood can play host to international affairs of the heart, like Katya Romanova and Jared Corn‘s September 30 wedding. Katya is an artist and designer from Russia and Jared a musician and songwriter from America. Their artistic talents were the bond that nurtured their relationship so love could grow into marriage.
We love their story: Katya and Jared met while she was traveling in the US for the first time — at Graceland! After spending one evening getting acquainted, they resumed their lives and exchanged occassional emails. A year later, Katya came back to the US again and decided to give Jared a call during a stop in Nashville. He drove from Indianapolis to spend another day with Katya, the day they fell in love. Back in Russia, Katya and Jared began a two-year series of trips abroad, including two visits to Russia by Jared. On the last one, he proposed to Katya at the airport before departing back to America.
Starting with Graceland and Nashville, it’s no wonder Katya and Jared feel connected to the South, to music, and a bit of country-western cowboy mystique. Katya designed the art for their gorgeous horse motif wedding invitations (printed by Designs in Paper) and CD covers. CDs of Jared’s original love songs were guest favors reflecting their artistic relationship. Handmade ‘stick’ horses carried by the flower girl and ring bearer were adorable and added a unique artistic touch to the ceremony. Classical string ceremony music was the prelude to the wedding reception’s live performance by Jared, with Katya accompanying him on a song or two. Katya and Jared’s send off was perhaps the most exciting ever: they were ushered into a brand new car, a surprise gift from Katya’s father. In order to treat their Russian friends to a little more ‘country western’ flavor, guests caravanned from Cedarwood to neighboring Cowboy Town for some trail riding. We love Katya on this gorgeous white horse! Enjoy these highlights by Nadine Birge Photography.
Best wishes to you both Katya and Jared! Our best also to Katya’s lovely parents, Alexander and Lena Romonov. We hope you’ll visit next time you’re in Nashville, and maybe we will see you in Russia! Thanks to Nadine Birge for sharing these images.
