Hold on tight, because this love story really soars. Tara and Jon Fodor met as Ohio residents. Their lives turned southbound when Tara moved to Nashville and Jon to Birmingham, but they kept in touch for three years as friends. After they began dating, Tara accepted a two year assignment in Sweden. Yes! Sweden! Jon flew over to check things out, and they planned a three week summer tour of Europe. In Sweden, Jon proposed. He was supposed to pop the question on their last leg of the trip in Tuscany but he couldn’t hold out. So he decided to propose again in every country they visited, ending with four proposals: in Sweden, Spain, France and Italy. Tara said yes all four times! Wedding on!
Tara wanted an original wedding cake, and Patty Russell of Patty Cakes is always happy to accommodate. The lovely lace detailing on Tara’s wedding gown became the inspiration for a custom design. Just take a look at the cake and lace below. Magnificent! Original and DIY details don’t stop with the cake. Tara personally designed and made her table assignment cards, which hung from a twine line during the barn cocktail reception. Real lace overlaid on the cards carried out the romantic Southern theme. Favors of home grown and home made jars of olive oil marinated peppers gave guests something that was uniquely Tara and Jon. Pop over to read our feature post on their labor of love for a little favor inspiration. Tara and Jon graciously gifted us with a jar, and we’re hooked! Yum. Perhaps their most impressive custom detail was wine bottle photo labels featuring Tara and Jon with the Cedarwood barn and Chevy truck (taken by Tara’s mom Sandy Gentile during our winter open house.) What a way to pour fun at a wedding!
